Recently, I shot the wigs and hair class from Cerritos College (my alma mater). It’s been awhile since I last visited and I thought it was high time I went back to my “roots!” (a little pun never hurt anybody) If you’re interested in learning more about the program, you can visit their page Wigs & Hair
During these tough times, professional photography can be a luxury that many have gone without. But what value would you place on memories? There are milestones in everyone of our lives that we can never relive or do-over. I know there are many deserving people who just can’t afford to spend for professional photography so I am making it more accessible. Gift certificates can now be purchased in $20 increments up to $100 to be used towards the recipient’s session, prints or other products. If you’re feeling generous, you may also gift an entire photosession. Please contact me for current rates at claire.o.photo@gmail.com
Some of you may not know that today is National Garlic Day! For those of you who personally know me, it should come as no surprise that I have to spotlight the much loved Garlic. Yes….I love garlic!!! Not only does it taste fantastic when added to a dish but the benefits reaped might make it a bit more appealing to you. An excerpt from Garlic Health …
“Various garlic health benefits have long been claimed and the “stinking rose” treatment has been used extensively in herbal medicine (phytotherapy) down the centuries. It’s been considered by many to be a herbal “wonder drug”, with a reputation in folklore for preventing or treating everything from the common cold and fluto the Plague!
Much of that is at best unproven, however there are some very positive garlic health facts that are now widely accepted. Amongst the most interesting potential applications are suggestions that garlic might be able to assist some people in the management of blood pressurecholesterol levels.
Modern science has shown that garlic is a powerful natural antibiotic, albeit broad-spectrum rather than targeted. The bacteria in the body do not appear to evolve resistance to the garlic as they do to many modern pharmaceutical antibiotics. This means that its positive health benefits can continue over time rather than helping to breed antibiotic resistant “superbugs”.
Studies have also shown that garlic – especially aged garlic – can have a powerful antioxidant effect. Antioxidants can help to protect the body against damaging free radicals. There are claims that fermented black garlic contains even higher antioxidant levels than normal cloves.
Some people who want the claimed health benefits without the taste prefer to take garlic supplements. These pills and capsules have the advantage of avoiding garlic breath.“

I am currently listening to choral works on the radio this Easter Sunday and can’t help but feel closer to God/Source. Amazing how music can affect one’s mood. I feel so grateful for the people in my life and all that I have. I wish you all a wonderful Easter Sunday with loved ones! For those not celebrating Easter, I wish you a very relaxed & peaceful day.
Enjoy an M&M filled Rice Krispy Egg Treat from me to you!!! ♥ ♥ ♥
My youngest nephew Jay performed last night during the CSF (California Scholarship Federation) Awards Ceremony. Absolutely the most entertaining CSF ceremony I’ve ever attended. I’m so proud of you, Jay! I captured just a few of the performances. The emcees for the evening were also very entertaining! Big pat on the back to all who performed & received an award last night! It’s not the best video recording but I hope you enjoy the videos, nonetheless.
I’m currently reading a book that my sister recommended to me called The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. It discusses how we all have a primary/secondary way we give & receive love (or what we perceive as love); whether it’s in a romantic relationships, familial, friends or coworkers, how we give & receive love affects how close that relationship will be. Speaking the same language as someone else creates a closer bond with that person. You get the feeling that this person understands you & really cares about you. In looking at all of my relationships, it makes perfect sense why I’m closer to certain people and why some romantic relationships were a struggle.
The book has a questionnaire that determines what your primary love language is. In my case, I have 2 primary love languages. Hoo ya! I’m multi-lingual! hehehe…. Anyhow, we can all learn to be fluent in the 5 love languages. All it takes is awareness & the initiative to learn what love language your friends/family/coworkers/lover speaks. It may not be the same language you speak but knowing their language helps to effectively communicate your love for them.
Here are the 5 Love Languages the book discusses in detail.
Words of Affirmation
Gifts
Acts of Service
Quality Time
Physical Touch
I’m only half way through the book and I highly recommend this to everyone! This can only enhance your relationships & give you a better understanding of yourself.
Spring is my favorite season of all. I love when all the flowers begin to bloom and the scent of orange blossoms & jasmine fill the air. It heralds a time to shed those winter clothes & feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. Please sun responsibly and wear sunscreen beyond your 10-15 minutes of sun exposure.
